Painting description:
Medusa is one of the most misunderstood characters in Greek Mythology. She was a beautiful woman with the best intentions but the world around her couldn’t let her be. She fell victim to injustice and hatred, to which she is remembered as a monster. My aim in this painting was to highlight her beauty, her innocence in her eyes and way of carrying herself.
A tale of a beautiful woman who got raped by the God of the Sea, then cursed by the goddess Athena to become a monster, as a punishment of “being” with Poseidon. If Medusa ever would meet eyes with a man again, the man would turn to stone and die.
A big thanks to Carlos Torres for the reference.
