The Creation Of Us – Original Painting *SOLD*

My initial intentions with the painting were to re-create Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam” where I focused on the shapes portrayed behind the figure of God, which is appearing to be an anatomically accurate picture of the human brain. This is one of the reasons for the skull. Another reason why I incorporated the skull, can be interpreted as “God reaching out to touch mankind through their third eye”, as the power of God is within us all or that God being encapsulated in the brain signifies that God is creation. It pictures God giving human the gift of intellect, symbolized by the brain. I could go on forever, but I want people to see and experience the painting and their interpretations of it for themselves.

Lastly, another important message I wanted to express by re-creating Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel’s masterpiece, were to represent diversity. In the original painting, the humans sitting behind the figure of God are to be interpreted as representations of Eve and the children Adam and Eve were going to have. All the children were Caucasian, which would be incorrect, since the children of this world comes in many beautiful colors.

Whether we believe in a specific religion, the universe, nature or something else, this painting can be interpreted in endless of different ways, speaking to its viewer.
